Experience, Teamwork & Drive~ About RW Motorsports Drawing on a long time passion for racing, Steve Weirich & Mario Rotondo formed RW Motorsports in 1999. RWMS began part-time in the USAC Silver Crown Series, grabbing a win at DuQuoin in 2003 with driver, Rich Tobias. 2006 brought a change in drivers to RWMS with Mat Neely taking over full time driving duties from Tobias. Expanding the team in 2007, RWMS added a second Silver Crown car entry and brought Jerry Coons, Jr to the team. With the two driver line-up, RWMS began shaping their championship team with 3 poles, a win at Eldora and a 2nd place finish at PIR to close the 2007 season. Building on the momentum of the previous year, 2008 continued to bring change and increased success to RWMS. RW Motorsports partnered with Toyota Racing Development and became the first USAC Silver Crown team to be powered by Toyota. Even though the transition took place mid-season, the RWMS team did not falter towards their goal- a successful season, and ultimately, the 2008 USAC Silver Crown Championship. The team also welcomed two new members in 2008- Shane Hmiel and Dave Darland. Hmiel piloting the #17 Silver Crown Beast/Toyota and Darland in the #2b RWB Sprint car. To round out the roster of talent and run for points in all three USAC divisions, RWMS added Brad Kuhn to the team to drive the #17b Midget. The 2009 Season culminated in a Mational Midget Series Championship for RWMS and Brad Kuhn! RWMS immediately began gearing up for 2010 - bringing Bryan Clauson on to the team to pilot the #2b Sprint for the new season. With over 20 USAC victories in 2009, Clauson immediately adds to the existing strength and talent of our team. We look forward to a successful and fun year! It is the strength of teamwork, the experience of the crew and drivers, and the collective passion & drive of each RWMS Team Member that delivers successful results.
