Special Cause

After 8 years of wheeling RWMS Silver Crown cars Richie Tobias Jr. now spends
the bulk of his time building race cars and running his Slingshot and Midget divisions. Even though we don't
see him at the track each week, he and his son Andrew are never far from the RW Motorsports team because all of our USAC Silver
Crown cars continue to display the National Fragile X Foundation logo in support of their battle
with this disease . “My son, Andrew, was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome shortly after he was born and I’m
hoping I can help bring more exposure to the Foundation’s cause through my racing.” Over 90% of the non-profit organization's
budget is provided by individual donors.
Fragile X Syndrome is the most common inherited cause of mental retardation,
appearing in 1 in 3600 males and 1 in 4000 to 6000 females. The spectrum ranges from subtle learning disabilities to severe
mental retardation and autism. A person with Fragile X Syndrome has a mutation in the DNA that makes up the X chromosome.
At this time, there is no known cure for Fragile X Syndrome. However therapies and medications are helpful in addressing the
impacts of Fragile X Syndrome.
